LENTEN WRITING RETREAT:
MAPPING THE SUNFLOWERS
On Saturday, March 9, Pam Poe will lead a Lenten Writing Retreat from 12 noon – 4 p.m. in the chapel at Tree of Life Church. This retreat is for all interested people, whether you consider yourself a writer or just a scribbler. Suggested cost for the day is $15. Here’s a description of what to expect:
In the Lenten season, it can be easy to focus on what we feel we should give up. Sometimes we merely enter a time of waiting for spring to arrive. At the start the Lenten season, you are invited to reflect and write about what may be taking root or even getting ready to bloom under the dry weeds, ice and snow, and waiting earth. When spring has yet to arrive, consider sunflowers that may be ripe for blossoming as a metaphor for reflection and writing about your life’s journey to this moment. Using the wisdom of several authors, we will invite you to “map” wherever you currently find yourself– on pathways, in the woods, weeds or other terrain.
By writing with optional sharing, with help from simple prompts, we will seek sacred connections that may reveal sunflowers waiting to bloom, buds still hardened by frost or old, dry weeds ready for clearing. Join us for an afternoon of writing or just plain fun, in silence and candlelight—with an on-your-own arts table for new ideas.
Registration for this retreat is required, as space is limited. To register, email the church office at treeoflifepc@gmail.com or call 610-543-9533.
