Ministry with people with disabilities and their families is a special focus at Tree of Life. We welcome people with disabilities to participate fully in every part of our congregational life. We have two ministries that are particularly designed with this group in mind.
Our Community Cup Coffeehouse
Our Community Cup meets each Friday in Boggs Hall. All are welcome, but it is specifically designed as a communal space for young adults and adults with disabilities and their families and caregivers. It’s a place to build friendships and just have a fun night out. Each week there is food, fun and great live music. Doors open at 5:30. Dinner is served around 6. At 7 p.m. there is either a sing-along or an opening act. At 7:30 the headline group performs. Our Community Cup is a joint program with New Avenue Foundation, a non-profit for people with disabilities and their families. ASD/ADHD Parent Support Group
The Parent Support Group usually meets twice a month on Sunday afternoons from 1 – 3 p.m. There is usually a guest speaker on a topic of mutual interest for the first hour, followed by a time for talking about the challenges you are facing as a parent of a kid with these special needs. It’s a time to be with other parents who are going through the same things you do and to learn from one another. Childcare is available by pre-registration during these meetings. Spaces for childcare are limited. This group communicates through a closed Facebook page, Parents of Children with ASD/ADHD of Delco. Check the church calendar for the schedule.
